Roundtable Meeting for South East Europe held in Zagreb, Croatia

Roundtable Meeting for South East Europe

Leaders from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania, and Bulgaria met in January in Zagreb, Croatia for the first South East Europe (SEE) roundtable event, hosted in partnership between WWO Europe and Orphan’s Promise.

Leaders gathered to share experiences of their work with orphans and vulnerable children in their own countries and to talk strategy in the boarder ‘without orphans’ context.
The power of God in personal stories was evident, and the dedication of individuals working to help children was inspiring.  Encouraging stories were shared about the changes taking place as connections are being made at the government levels in places like Croatia and Albania.

Small groups focused on developing strategy for the region, and it was determined that priorities would be: church engagement, creation of a regional facilitation team, development of country teams, mutual communication and prayer through online technology, and a commitment to move forward together. Those attending also discussed ways they could utilize Orphan Sunday in their own countries in November 2020.

An initial SEE Facilitation Team has been established to take the first steps for the region.

The team has 1 member from each of the 8 countries.

Next event: Children in Families - World Without Orphans roundtable event in March 2020.

We are inviting people from across Europe to join us at ‘Children in Families’, an event taking place in March 2020 that is designed to envision and equip you to be a catalyst in your country, denomination, or region towards growing a movement for family-based care for children who have lost parental care.
